Belo-sur-Mer takes some effort to reach. Here is what we have been able to verify to help you plan, with the date of the last check.

How to get there

Belo-sur-Mer is reached from Morondava, by track in a 4x4 (usually from May to October or November) or by sea. Routes, travel times given by our sources, indicative prices and advice: see our detailed page Getting to Belo-sur-Mer.

Do not plan a tight connection on the way back, such as a flight on the same day.

When to go

The dry season, roughly from April–May to November, is the most recommended. During the rainy season, roughly from December to March, the track can become impassable.

Money and services

  • There is no cash machine (ATM) in the village: bring enough cash before leaving Morondava.
  • Electricity, mobile signal and internet are limited: bring a head torch and a power bank.

Safety

Find out about safety conditions before taking the track: check your country’s official travel advice and ask your accommodation. It is recommended to travel by day, with an experienced driver.

Where to stay

Accommodation is limited and simple: small lodges and bungalows. Book ahead in the dry season. Places whose existence we have verified (in alphabetical order, with no ranking or partnership):
